Kumasta? Mabuti. Sige, so I haven't written for a while now. There are a couple reasons for that, but one reason is that I have been learning a new language. Particularly I have trying to pick up my wife's national language called Tagalog. I have studied German, Greek, and Old Testament Hebrew before. I studied German for four years and remember hardly anything. Yet I still pick up my Greek New Testament and the Hebrew Bible. Tagalog is the hardest so far in it's pronunciation. All languages have the same kind of ideas, so studying before has been helpful. One thing to always remember when learning a new language is that It always takes lots of time, effort, and diligence. You have to keep going over the vocabulary and the forms of speech consistently. I wish I could tell you that I'm super good at that, but sometimes I have trouble keeping up.

There is a saying in the Philippines when trying to speak English. They say, Nose Bleed." It pretty much means they are having trouble speaking English. They are forgetting the words or they know the words but cannot communicate the words well. I think I want to borrow that phrase as I learn Tagalog. My head hurts sometimes trying to get my tongue to work properly in order to say the words correctly. Maybe English speakers can come up with their own saying about the difficulty of learning Tagalog. If you come up with one, let us know.

Anyway, I recommend that you try to learn a language. It is a great mental exercise that sharpens the mind. It also helps you become better at English. For you will have to learn how adjectives, verbs, and pronouns work, and how the sentences are put together in the foreign language. You will definitely translate that over to having a better understanding of English. If you would like to learn Tagalog, there is a great program at http://learningtagalog.com/course/app.php. There are free resources on this site as well as a program you can buy. So have you tried a new language before? If so, how challenging was it for you? If you never tried to learn a new language, go for it. It can be challenging, but a lot of fun. contact us at lovebreaksthedistance@hotmail.com
